Mammography Procedures

A mammogram is like a fingerprint; the appearance of the breast on a mammogram varies tremendously from woman to woman, and no two mammograms are alike. It is extremely helpful for the radiologist to have films or electronic files (not just the report) available from previous examinations for comparison purposes. This will help the doctor to recognize small changes that occur gradually over time and detect abnormalities as early as possible.

 Screening Mammograms

  • The complete procedure takes approximately 15-20 minutes
  • Walk-ins are welcome. Please bring your current insurance card and driver’s license

Diagnostic Procedures

While screening tests are excellent for early detection and finding possible abnormalities, diagnostic tests are specialized procedures designed to provide more detailed information and to determine whether or not breast cancer is present.   In the event of cancer detection diagnostic tests also are used to gather more information about the cancer to guide decisions about treatment.
