No. You can make your appointment for your routine screening mammogram without a doctor’s order. Just give us the name of your primary care physician and we will make sure they get the results of your exam.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires all new insurance plans to pay for screening and preventable services. All women over 40 are eligible for a screening mammogram every year without any co-pay or deductible. Bone Density screening is also covered without a deductible (every 2 years after age 65).

No. Even though we are specialists in breast imaging, your cost will not be higher if you come here.  Most insurance plans cover screening mammograms at 100% without any out of pocket (copay or deductible).  If you need a special procedure (like a breast biopsy) that does require the specialist copay and deductible payment regardless of where you go, even if you do not see a specialist.

We recommend making an appointment but we keep some appointment slots open for walk-ins. Call or stop by any time and we will do our best to work you in.

Yes. You can always choose where to have any aspect of your care. If you prefer to come to Carolina Breast Imaging Specialists, we will arrange to obtain your records for comparison and send the results of your exam to your doctor.

Yes. We can review your images and reports and offer a consultation to determine what, if anything, else needs to be done. If you have been told you need a biopsy please click here to see our biopsy information page.

  • Please be sure to bring your photo ID and current insurance cards. Co-pays will be collected at the time of registration.
  • If you have had prior breast imaging or bone density exams performed elsewhere, please let us know so we can obtain copies.
  • Before you arrive, please check our exam prep to see if there are any special preparations or restrictions.

In an effort to be environmentally responsible, much of our patient information is collected electronically at the time of your visit. There are, however, a few papers which require your signature at registration. Feel free to review, complete and bring these forms to your scheduled appointment.

We accept personal checks, cash, VISA, MasterCard and Discover.

Yes. All of our physicians are fellowship trained in breast imaging and board certified by the American Board of Radiology.

We believe that screening mammograms should be reviewed carefully without trying to rush to get you results while you wait. This has been shown to be the most accurate method leading to the highest cancer detection and lowest false positive rates. Your doctor will receive our report within a few days of your exam and you will receive a letter directly from Carolina Breast Imaging Specialists stating your results and any suggested follow-up.
